Job Description

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Fraud Manager alongside the Fraud Decision Science team will be directly responsible for all aspects related to fraud management pertaining to consumer abusive overdue loss and unauthorized loss (ATO and stolen finance), which include but are not limited to:

  • Heading and managing the Fraud team by providing effective leadership, retaining talented staff, and training the team in fraud expertise while maintaining a healthy hierarchy.
  • Improving a strong team culture (high trust, selflessness, dedication, diversity, enjoyment, etc.), thus ensuring maximum team motivation and exceptional performance.
  • Guiding the team in monitoring and maintaining abusive overdue loss and unauthorized fraud loss KPIs in a healthy state.
  • Developing a vision of fraud management decision science, data models, and strategies inline with organization/company priorities.
  • Directing the team to own, design, and handle all aspects of fraud prevention, detection and response strategies, striking a balance between fraud controls, growth and customer experience.
  • Conducting the team in a manner promoting strong collaboration with key partner teams (Product, Engineering, Operations) and yielding significant results.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree or higher in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance or related fields.
  • Over 8 years of experience in fraud management related to payment and BNPL industries.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing people across a global organization, specifically with hands-on experience in building diverse teams and promoting inclusivity.
  • Thorough knowledge of fraud management/investigation processes, fraud tools and models; familiarity with the BNPL industry.
  • Proficiency in relevant data science and machine learning tools such as SQL & Python, data analytics, dashboarding & data model creation.
  • Ability to operate efficiently across a matrixed business environment.
  • Excellent execution focus and track record
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including storytelling and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and large-scale planning abilities.

Additional Information

Block decides on compensation based on the market. The pay may differ based on your location. U.S. locations are grouped into one of four zones depending on the labor cost index for that geographic area. The starting pay for the successful candidate will be determined by job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be adjusted in the future.

We welcome hiring managers who have led teams of six or more, with a strong index on expressing building models for Fraud and Risk use cases. We are open to two levels of seniority across the following pay bands:


Zone A: USD $180,000 - USD $225,000
Zone Other: USD $171,000 - USD $210,000

Zone A: USD $217,800 - $270,000
Zone Other: USD $217,800 - $270,000
