We are offering a 6-month Paid Internship Data Engineer position that lets you immerse yourself in the world of data with a lively and innovative team.

At Xref (XF1), we utilize a modern tech stack that includes:

• Data Storage - Mysql, Postgres, Redshift, Elasticsearch, Mongodb, Dynamodb, S3
• Visualization Tools - Tableau and Salesforce CRM Analytics
• - EC2 + python + airflow
• Ad hoc Analytics Analysis (Tableau), Unsupervised Learning (sklearn), Supervised Learning (sklearn, keras, pytorch), NLP (NLTK, Spacy, LLMs)

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

• Passion for Data: Candidates should have a genuine interest in data and readiness to learn.
• Basic Python Skills: A fundamental understanding of Python is an advantage, but an intense desire to develop these skills is equally important.
• Curiosity: Eagerness to explore data and unearth insights that can influence decisions.
• Strong Work Ethic: We appreciate determination and a solid work ethic as you plunge into the world of data engineering.

We expect you to: 

• Realize that "Real life" data may not always be clean and ready to be consumed. You'll have to tidy and groom it, possibly dealing with null values, duplications, and other issues. We expect you to be able to outline quality checks and explain how to prepare your data to be used by data products. 
• Understand dimensions can be distributed across different tables/objects. You should be able to explain how to extract information from other tables and objects while considering that they can be at different granularities – which can affect the calculation of aggregated metrics.
• Explain how to aggregate/compose metrics if you have granular data not at the level of granularity you need. Common aggregations are sum, max, and so forth.
• You should be proficient in describing the application of CTEs

Your advantage can be: 

• Prior exposure to Python (including pandas, arrow, luigi), Apache Spark, Apache Airflow, and Apache Drill.
• Experience or familiarity with AWS cloud services.
• Knowledge of relational databases and libraries, regardless of the extent.
