Job Description

The Intern will be assigned a 6-8 month project, that has been outlined in advance by their Engineering Mentor.

As a Data Science Intern at Bosch, you will have the chance to work on innovative projects and acquire hands-on experience in the field of data science with an emphasis on automotive applications. You will be part of a dynamic team, aiding seasoned data scientists and engineers to address real-world automotive powertrain issues by employing advanced analytics and machine learning methods. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Data Exploration and Analysis: Compile, cleanse, and inspect large and complex datasets to detect patterns, trends, and insights. Use statistical techniques and data visualization tools to effectively convey findings.
  • Machine Learning Development: Produce and apply machine learning models, algorithms, and statistical methods to address specific business problems. This may involve tasks such as data preprocessing, feature engineering, model training, and assessment.
  • Predictive Modeling and Optimization: Construct predictive models for forecasting future outcomes and refining business processes. Apply regression, classification, clustering, and other machine learning methods to solve issues related to demand forecasting, anomaly detection, quality enhancement, etc.
  • Data Mining and Pattern Recognition: Discover meaningful sequences, correlations, and relationships in vast datasets. Utilize techniques like association rules, clustering, and dimensionality reduction to uncover insights and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Collaborative Problem-Solving: Team up closely with cross-functional teams, including business stakeholders and software developers, to comprehend requirements and develop data-centred solutions. Collaborate effectively, share knowledge, and contribute to the overall success of the projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Chronicle methodologies, algorithms, and results in a clear and concise way. Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay current with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and associated technologies. Actively take part in training programs, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities to improve your skills and expertise.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.

A minimum 3.0 GPA

Must be a minimum of 18 years old

Must work 30-40 hours per week

Strong programming abilities in languages like Python with libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn. Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or matplotlib.

Knowledge of machine learning algorithm creation and techniques

Preferred: Automotive-related hobby and/or experience working with engines or vehicles. 1+ year academic or industry experience with software languages and operating systems.
