Job Description

The Business Intelligence (BI) Team at Cash App empowers our units to make influential business decisions. Our BI Engineers cover everything from data architecture and modeling to data pipeline tools and dashboarding. As a Senior BI Engineer at Cash App, you will report to the BI Manager. Collaboration with Analysts, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers is vital to set the groundwork for analyzing our extensive, unique dataset. We are a highly data-driven team - from understanding our customers, managing our business, operating it, and informing product development. You will build, maintain, document, and handle vital datasets along with Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) operations to magnify the impact of the entire team. By comprehending their priorities and problems, you will develop a strong partnership with our stakeholders and deliver value via our data, reporting, and tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new and optimize existing data models in the Commerce domain at Cash App.
  • Establish robust partnerships with Product Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineer teams by understanding their priorities and issues to deliver value from our data, reporting, and interactive data products.
  • Construct reusable data engineering frameworks to enhance the data quality, reliability, and scalability of our ETLs using a combination of tools such as dbt, prefect, airflow, databricks, spark, etc.
  • Mentor and guide team members to adopt best practices in data modeling, improve data engineering solutions, and adopt best practices in developing, testing, and release.
  • Collaborate with external teams including data infrastructure, tooling, and raw data supply teams to stay updated on the data engineering framework, tooling, and engineering excellence.
  • Enable non-technical team stakeholders to self-service data pipelines using UI-based task orchestration tools.

Qualifications

You possess:

  • A background/knowledge in Computer Science, Applied Math, Engineering, Stats, Physics, or similar fields.
  • 7+ years of industry experience in building complex, scalable ETLs for a variety of different business and product use cases.
  • 3+ years of experience with ETL orchestration and workflow management tools like Airflow, Prefect.
  • Experience working with Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, PostgreSQL and/or other DBMS platforms.
  • Experience using CI/CD tools in data engineering pipelines. Experience using dbt in building and enriching data models. Experience in constructing interactive data products to automate internal business processes will be a plus.
  • An interest in promoting Cash App's vision of building products for economic empowerment - this should genuinely excite you.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments, and capable of self-starter and self-organizing.
