Job Description

The Business Intelligence Team at Cash App empowers our teams to make significant business decisions. Our BI Engineers cover everything from data architecture and modeling to data pipeline tooling and dashboard creation. As a Senior BI Engineer at Cash App, you will report to the BI Manager and collaborate with Analysts, Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineers to establish the groundwork for analyzing our large, unique dataset. We are a highly data-driven team, using data to understand our customers, manage our business, guide product development. You will construct, curate, document, and oversee key datasets and ETLs to increase the effectiveness of the entire team. By understanding their priorities and challenges, you will develop strong relationships with our stakeholders, thereby delivering value through our data, reports, and tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop new and optimize existing data models within Cash App’s Commerce domain.
  • By recognizing their priorities and challenges, foster strong partnerships with Product Data Scientists, Product Managers, and Software Engineer teams and generate value from our data, reporting, and interactive data products.
  • Create a reusable data engineering framework to enhance the quality, reliability, and scalability of our ETLs with tools like dbt, prefect, airflow, databricks, spark, etc.
  • Guide team members to adopt best practices in data modeling, improve data engineering solutions, and follow best practices in development, testing, and release.
  • Collaborate with external teams focused on data infrastructure, tooling, and raw data provision to stay current with data engineering framework, tooling, and engineering excellence.
  • Empower less technical stakeholders to self-service data pipelines using user-interface-based task orchestration tools.

Qualifications

You possess:

  • Background/knowledge in Computer Science, Applied Math, Engineering, Stats, Physics, or comparable area
  • Over seven years of industry experience in constructing complex, scalable ETLs for diverse business and product use cases.
  • At least three years of experience with ETL orchestration and workflow management tools like Airflow, Prefect
  • Experience working with Snowflake, Databricks, Redshift, PostgreSQL and/or other DBMS platforms.
  • Experience using CI/CD tools in data engineering pipelines. Proficiency in utilizing dbt for building and enriching data models. Experience in constructing interactive data products to streamline internal business processes is a plus.
