Compensation
Compensation includes a base salary ranging from $97,100.00 to $161,800.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the job's ultimate location and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. This position may also be eligible for additional compensation, including an incentive program.
Job Description
Cox Communications is seeking a Senior Data Scientist – Solution Architecture to join our Data Science team within the Analytics and Insights (A+I) division. This role is responsible for designing and implementing advanced analytics solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop production-grade analytics applications utilized in the Cox Ecosystem
- Continuously improve data models, quality, and supporting applications, including the ACoE Analytics Center for Excellence outage system, graph identity network, and event correlation system
- Identify data quality discrepancies and develop solutions to address them
- Monitor and report on the effectiveness and performance of models
- Develop new microservices to leverage current and upcoming models
- Evaluate new technologies, tools, and data
- Stay updated on new technologies, standards, and best practices
- Guide junior resources within the Data Science team
- Architect, design, and ideate new analytical models based on team requests
Who You Are
The ideal candidate has a robust software development background and is “data science curious”. They are expected to start by enhancing the performance and quality of existing applications, with the expectation that they will eventually build their Machine Learning (ML) models. The role focuses on optimizing current frameworks and engineering new solutions for future models. They will collaborate closely with other Data Science teams to create efficient, scalable solutions for the entire organization.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Analytics, Engineering) and 4 years of related experience OR a Master’s degree in the same fields with 2 years of related experience OR a Ph.D. with up to 1 year of related experience
- Experience supporting and deploying data models in production environments
- Proficiency in AWS or other cloud development
- 2 years of software development experience
- 2 years of AWS experience
- Strong programming skills in a variety of data/analytic software/languages/tools (e.g., Spark, R, Python, Scala, Java, C++, Hive, SQL, SAS, Tableau)
- Excellent communication skills for conveying complex analytics insights to non-technical business partners
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Analytics, Engineering, or a closely related field
- 2 years of Test-Driven Development experience
- 4 years of software development experience
- 4 years of experience working in AWS or other cloud platforms
- 2 years of experience deploying AI models to cloud platforms
- Experience with Neptune Graph
- Practical experience deploying real-time applications with low downtime, including ML models, analytics applications, or microservices
- Experience in telecommunications, cable industry, high tech, or consulting
- Experience working in an agile team
