Amazon Web Services (AWS) is creating an exceptional marketing organization and is in need of an Applied Scientist to join the Marketing Data: Science & Engineering (D:SE) team to lead AWS Measurement, targeting, recommendation, forecasting related AI/ML products and initiatives across AWS Marketing. This role involves enhancing the science and measurement standard in AWS Marketing. As a leader of the Marketing Data: Science & Engineering (D:SE) team, your work will include collaboration with economists, scientists, and engineers within the team, as well as partnering with other science, economics, product, and business teams across AWS Marketing, to develop next-generation marketing measurement, valuation, and machine learning capabilities that will improve our key performance metrics. We are seeking a passionate, result-oriented, and innovative Applied Scientist capable of creating and improving AI/ML models for AWS marketing stakeholders. You will collaborate closely with our scientists, economists, and software engineers to solve marketing problems using genAI/ML solutions on a large scale. Key Job Responsibilities You will lead the design, development, deployment, and innovation of gen AI models. You will network with scientists, economists, engineers, and product leaders to simplify complex business problems into quantitative approaches using Amazon data. You will guide the engineering team on scalability and reliability for large-scale optimization systems. Your ability to communicate complex systems to business partners and senior leadership is vital. Your passion for continuous learning and application of the latest industry best practices to meet evolving business requirements will be crucial. You will influence the organization's long-term science initiatives and mentor other scientists within AWS. The position is open for candidates to work out of the following locations: Vancouver, BC, CAN. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in building models for business applications. - PhD, or a Master's degree and 4+ years of experience in CS, CE, ML, or a related field. - Proven experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals. - Practical experience in programming in Java, C++, Python, or a related language. - Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing. Preferred Qualifications - UNIX/Linux user experience. - Experience in professional software development. - Familiarity with popular deep learning frameworks such as MxNet and Tensor Flow. The base salary for this position varies from $149,300/year to $249,300/year and depends on several factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
